I have some pretty exciting news to share.
I’ve earned 2 National Accreditations from the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC) in the following categories: Dog Portrait & Cat Portrait.
“Uhhhhh ok, Sam… what does that even mean and why do I care?”
Honestly, that’s a fair question. I’m glad I asked it for you.
WHAT IS “ACCREDITATION”?
Accreditation proves that a photographer possesses the experience, knowledge, and equipment to create exceptional photographs in their area of expertise.
To earn an Accreditation, photographers must submit 10 photographs to be judged by a panel of qualified leaders in the photography industry. If all the photos are accepted, the photographer earns accreditation and is recognized as a specialist in their chosen field.
WHY SHOULD YOU CARE?
Because you don’t want to invest in mediocre or lacklustre photography. These days, anyone with a smartphone or entry-level camera can call themselves a ‘Professional Photographer’. It can be difficult to know for sure if someone has the knowledge and skills required to specialize in pet photography. When you hire an Accredited photographer, you can feel confident that you will be happy with the final result.
HOW TO FIND OUT IF A PHOTOGRAPHER IS ACCREDITED?
There are a few ways:
1. Ask them!
2. Look for the “Accredited” logo on their website
3. Search for them on the PPOC website: https://www.ppoc.ca/find.php
